Dr. Monica Price Kowaleski is honored to be one of the most trusted eye care professionals in east central Indiana. A hometown optometrist and a family owned and operated practice, Dr. Price Kowaleski & the Price Eye Care team work hard everyday to uphold their reputation of outstanding personalized customer service. We will do our best to exceed your expectations. We are focused on you!

Price Eye Care has a vision founded on a few basic principals. The first is the Golden Rule, treating others as one’s self would wish to be treated. We treat our patients like family. In fact, many of us that work here are family, and many of our patients are our closest friends and family. A second principal is quality. You may wait a little longer to see our doctor, you may wait a little longer for your glasses to come in — all because we take the time to give you the very best service and the very best quality of care. We are always striving to offer the latest in technology in medical equipment to diagnose and treat your eye health, with contact lenses, and with our eyewear. Third, we believe in working hard and playing hard. There is not a day that goes by that you don’t hear strong laughter throughout the office. Our fun-hearted team is always doing their best to make the patient’s experience the most enjoyable. With that, we work well together — with a goal for excellence as a team — always learning, always improving, and always focused on patient care – together! Lastly, a strong doctor-patient relationship is of utmost importance in our practice. You will find that Dr. Price Kowaleski brings the traditional value of having a sincere “chairside manner” to a modern practice. We practice by our motto which is “Focusing On You Since 2002”.

Price Eye Care not only has one of the best selections of Designer Frames and a huge collection of Sunglasses in the area, we also have a variety of affordable eyewear to suit every individual — ask about our Priceless Packages! We keep up with the latest trends and always offer the newest in lens technology. We have a huge variety of eye care accessories, from drops and cleansers to help dry eye and vitamins for macular degeneration, to sun hats and skincare. Think of us an optical boutique –> an OPTIQUE! Price Eye Care offers contact lenses that are not only feel comfortable, but help you see comfortably! We take our time with every patient so if you think you are “hard to fit” or need specialty lenses, we are here to help you!

About Dr. Price Kowaleski

Dr. Monica Price Kowaleski was raised in Logansport, IN. She has a strong optometry background where her mom worked as a para-optometric for Drs. Camille and Francis Parker; and her dad, Dr. Herb Price, has practiced as an optometrist since 1971. As a child Dr. Price Kowaleski had an eye muscle problem referred to as strabismus. She had to do vision therapy growing up and even wore an eye patch to help her vision development. Keep in mind, her eye doctor was also her dad. Much of the work this father and daughter team did inspire Dr. Herb Price to help amateur and professional athletes with vision therapy/sports vision. Dr. Price Kowaleski’s father was the team eye doctor in the 1980s for Indiana Pacers and the Kansas City Royals. He worked with many Indy car drivers, professional golfers, and Olympic figure skaters. He was the lead eye doctor at the National Sports Festival, Pan Am Games. Eye Care has been a huge part of Dr. Monica Price Kowaleski’s life. From the time she was in fourth grade, Dr. Price Kowaleski knew that she wanted to work in medicine. She loved math and science, and if you have met her you know that she is definitely a people person. But what you may not know is that her biggest motivation to be an optometrist actually came from her Grandma Clara, or as many called her “Dada”. During Dr. Price Kowaleski’s senior year of high school she had just finished her best nine holes of golf when she learned of an accident that had happened on the course. Dr. Price’ Kowaleski’s family was watching her play from afar when a member of the opponent’s team unintentionally sliced a ball at a 90 degree angle and injured Dr. Price Kowaleski’s Grandma “Dada” causing a complete retinal detachment and ultimately resulting in the loss of her right eye. It is not an easy story to tell and until recently Dr. Price Kowaleski has only shared this with a handful of patients and close friends. Knowing this may help you to better understand her underlying compassion. After high school Dr. Price Kowaleski attended Indiana University in Bloomington. During her undergrad, she greatly enjoyed being a four year member of the Indiana University Student Athletic Board and served as a Director or “Red Coat” during her senior year. She served as a co-chair for soccer and football and then as a director for Parent’s Weekend and the Men’s Swimming and Diving team. Dr. Price Kowaleski graduated with a B.S. in biology and a minor in Sociology (which should not surprise you). She then earned her Master’s degree in Biology at IUPUI in 1998 while working at Buca di Beppo – we can’t forget to tell you about her strong Italian background. In 1998, she started the Doctor of Optometry program back in Bloomington at the Indiana University School of Optometry. While in optometry school Dr. Price Kowaleski was active in VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) where she served on three mission trips to Guanajuato, Mexico. During her last year, Dr. Price Kowaleski had clinical rotations in Muncie, Indiana with the Eye Center Group and at the VA Hospital in Perry Point, Maryland. But most memorable was her clinical rotation at a VA Hospital in Montrose, NY just north of New York City during 9/11. Her experience there went far beyond what anyone can learn academically. She said she will never forget the smell of the towers burning or the incredible strength of the human spirit she witnessed first-hand. Dr. Price Kowaleski started practicing in Greenfield in 2002 and moved to her private practice location in 2012. Her husband, Kevin, also works in the practice as the business manager. Dr. Price Kowaleski and Kevin enjoy spending time with family and friends. In 2018, they hosted a Rotary exchange student Pablo from Pamplona, Spain, who is like a son to them. They also love music, traveling, gardening, cooking, and biking. Dr. Price Kowaleski loves a good joke and you will often find her with a smile or laughing. She even keeps funny stories that happen in the exams written down and puts them in a jar on her desk — someday she might have enough to write a book.

I just retired form teaching and being a Director of a preschool for 20 years. In my younger days I was an Administration Assistant at Fort Knox, KY working on a 2-star general’s staff. This is where I met my husband Jim. Once married, we were stationed in Gelnhausen, Germany where our son Bobby was born, Fort Riley, KN where our daughter Jessy was born and Fort Hood, TX. My husband retired from the U.S. Army in 1998 and we have lived in McCordsville, ever since.

I started working at Price Eye Care June, 2019. I spent 15 years teaching at a local preschool. I loved being with the kiddos but felt it was time to change things up. I am married to Ron for 33 years. We have 3 boys, 2 1/2 daughters-in-law (youngest son is engaged😁), and 1 grandson. Family is the best thing God has blessed me with!
